How engagement rate is calculated

Engagement rate by followers = (likes + comments + saves + shares) ÷ followers × 100. Use the average of your last 10 to 12 posts rather than one post, so a single viral Reel doesn't skew it.

Some brands calculate it by reach instead (interactions ÷ accounts reached). That number is usually higher and only you can see your reach, in Instagram's insights.

What is a good engagement rate?

There is no official benchmark and it varies by niche and account size. As a rough guide: under 1% is low, 1–3% is average, 3–6% is good and above 6% is excellent. Smaller accounts usually have higher rates than large ones.

Comments and saves count for more than likes: they tell Instagram people care. Asking a question, or offering a free guide to everyone who comments a keyword, raises both.

Questions

Do you store the numbers I enter?

No. The calculation runs in your browser; nothing is sent to AiHopper.

Should I include Reels views?

No. Views aren't interactions. Use likes, comments, saves and shares.
